In January 2024 we commenced delivering Islamic and Cultural Etiquette awareness training to new staff members of Humberside Fire & Rescue Service and last week we delivered the training to a second cohort of new staff.
This course offered a practical, locally-focused perspective, delving into the history of the Muslim community in East Riding, highlighting local mosques, and discussing significant dates and practices, including Ramadan and Eid.
The training which is now part of Humberside Fire & Rescue Service staff induction programme and the enhanced understanding will lead to our local emergency services being better equipped and aware of the communities they serve.
