Helping to improve lives and reduce health inequalities

Our Annual Community Health Fair, in partnership with Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Hull City Council provides a central location where members of the public can get useful information, receive health screenings, and interact with health care professionals in an informal environment.

The event was founded to reduce health inequalities within communities as we believe by bringing health services into communities will lead to increased awareness and understanding both by residents and amongst the services that attend. To read more about 2023’s event click here.

The Peel Project’s vision is to improve lives, build communities and reduce health inequalities and we wanted to create an event that was fun and memorable, that will break barriers, provide insights, confidence and learning to all those that attended.

“

We were keen to get services and Public Health to Peel Street Park and hope it leads to them thinking about what they can do to better engage with communities who do not understand UK health care system, that do not know how to access them or do not have confidence to access the services. The event is part of a strategy to break down barriers and develop understanding.

The Peel Project is a trusted organisation within the community and through its limited means is supporting communities and health services, the event was an opportunity to provide exposure to our organisation and the community it serves.

Frequently asked questions

What time will the event start?

  • 11am – event opens to the public
  • Stall holders may begin setting up from 9am

Is food provided?

  • Free fruit will be provided
  • A tuck shop serving drinks and snacks will be available

Is parking available?

There is plenty of on-street parking around the park and in neighbouring streets

Is there public transport to the park?

Buses from Hull Transport Interchange:

    • Bus services: 5, 105, 103 (runs every 10 minutes)
